All home sellers want every advantage possible when selling their house. No one ever has wanted to sell for under market value. That just isn’t the way it works.
When you sell, home sellers want to make every cent you can from the investment that you made in your house. One proven method to help home sellers sell faster, and for more money, is to have their home staged.
Professional home stagers know all the tips and tricks to make your house appeal to the largest number of buyers, helping it to sell faster. What if you don’t have the money to hire a professional?
These 7 tips can help home sellers stage your house like a pro:
- Brighten it up – People love houses that are full of light. Clean your windows inside and out to make sure all the dirt is removed and the most amount of light possible can come through. Then take down your curtains and pull up the blinds. You want to get rid of anything that is going to restrict the light from coming through.
- Turn the lights on – When you have a showing or an open house, make sure you turn on every light. Don’t forget about the closets. You even want to turn on your lamps. You want the most amount of light possible. People don’t like dark places and they can tend to make things look a little dingier. Crank up the lights and you give your house a face lift.
- Go white in the bathrooms – If you go to an upscale hotel, you will notice that the bathroom will be almost all white. White looks fresh and clean, and it’s what people like to see. Use your bathrooms to mimic this look. Also, buy new hand towels that you put out when you have a showing.
- Don’t forget about the table – You don’t need to go over the top, but simple place settings at a table can help to dress up a worn out table. Add a little color to the room with accent napkins or a colorful bouquet of flowers at the table.
- Show off the hardwood – You may have floor rugs that you love, but buyers love hardwood floors. If your house has them, it will work in your benefit to show them off. However, if your floors have seen better days and they are badly damaged, nice looking rugs can work to your advantage.
- Replace your family photos – If you have family portraits displayed on your wall, you want to replace them before putting your house on the market. Switch them out for generic pieces of art or mirrors that will allow buyers to picture themselves living in the house since your family isn’t on display.
- Update the fixtures – There are few things that can make a kitchen or living room look as outdated as light fixtures. If your house has old fixtures, you will want to switch them out. Updates like this in the kitchen provide a good ROI and will help your property to stand out to buyers.
Home staging does not need to cost top dollar in order to be effective. Home sellers can work with what you have in order to make your house look as appealing as you can to the largest group of buyers. After you focus on all of these areas, finish it up with a deep cleaning to make things shine.
